Hi, I’m Johanna. I’m in the 6th grade and my teacher says my English is pretty good. This is because I was born and bred in Hull, England and I lived there for seven and a half years.
In my free time I read a lot of English books and that is why I was asked to give you a book tip. So here it is:
The Land Of Stories: The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer.
I have already read it many times and still cannot get enough of it. Fortunately, there is a whole series of books so when you have finished the first book you can start with the next. By the way, you can read them in German, too.
I particularly like the book because you get to know what happens AFTER the well-known fairytales by the BROTHERS GRIMM. What happens to the Evil Queen in Snow White and to Little Red Riding Hood? Read the Land of Stories and you will find out!
I also love the book because you never know what comes next. The two main characters – Alex and her brother Conner are always thrown into a new adventure trying to find a way to get home. First, they are in the fairy kingdom (looking for an item from THE WISHING SPELL to get home) but then they find themselves arrested in the troll and goblin territory.
When the twins´ grandmother gives them a treasured fairytale book (on their twelfth birthday), they have no idea that they are about to enter a land beyond all imagination: THE LAND OF STORIES, where fairy tales are real. But the wishing spell is the only spell which will bring them back home. But with the legendary Evil Queen hot on their trail will they ever gather all the items of the wishing spell before she does? Unfortunately the wishing spell can only be used one more time…
